Lucy, a Border Collie/Beagle, is one of two Greek dogs who were rescued in June 2019 and given a second chance with a new home in the U.S. Her story is tragic. She lived her early life at the end of a short chain, often beaten, rarely fed and never touched by humans. When she became a mother, her puppies were collected and they were all dumped in a remote area.
All of the puppies except for one died; and sadly, Lucy returned to her abusive and neglectful home (the only place she knew) where she was chained again along with her puppy who survived. She continued to endure the same life until an animal welfare advocate rescued her and her puppy.
A New Home After Years Living in a Shelter
Lucy lived at the animal shelter for more than six years, spending over half her life in a small kennel waiting for adoption. The quiet and sweet girl with beautiful eyes begged to be rescued. At 10 years old, Lucy was adopted through the work of Humanitourism and placed in a loving home. Now she will have the human attention and care she deserves.
