Zana’s Story

Zana is a young female Doberman/Whippet mix who was rescued during our Humanitourism tour to Manzanillo, Mexico in March 2019. She was born with a birth defect in her front legs. Although it did not affect her ability to walk, run or play, she was cast out into the streets.

Local rescue friends tried to find Zana a home, but the birth defect made it difficult and they had no success even though she was a one-year old puppy. Potential adopters in the community came to see her but they didn’t want to take her because her feet were crooked.

At the shelter, Zana lived with a large group of other dogs and was not coping well. She craved a smaller setting and human attention. As her emotional well-being began deteriorating,we knew Zana needed a new home and we began a search to find her one.

Zana Blossoms in Her Home with New Friends and Family

After reaching out to our network of supporters, friends and partners, we found a foster family. Zana flew to the U.S. and restarted her life in Colorado where she became more comfortable and confident every day. Zana is learning to play with other animals and is especially good with moderate energy dogs and cats. Now living in a smaller setting and a quieter environment with a big yard to run free, she has blossomed and become very sociable with people. Zana loves human connection and especially snuggling with her new friends and family.
