James’ Story

James was born in Nepal and was treated well as a puppy. Life was good in a home where his family gave him love and food. When he grew older, James was tied up in an alley with the garbage all day and night. Every time he broke away, he ran home. And every time, he was retied until
eventually he was beaten up and bloodied, left to die.

When a good samaritan saw this horrendous cruely, he posted about James and a local animal shelter became involved. The team at the shelter rescued him and brought him in for treatment. James was monitored for brain injuries and slowly recovered from his wounds. During our Humanitourism trip to Nepal in November 2017, we met James. It was amazing that even after his beatings, he still
trusted people, longed for tenderness and hoped for a family that would love him. Sadly, we noticed that he would sometimes flinch when people tried to pet him, but he snuggled and and enjoyed affection once he was comfortable.

Rescue and Recover At The Shelter

James at Home

James is a two year old male dog and weighs about 26 pounds. When he recovered at the shelter, we found James a foster family in the U.S. where he could live initially. In February 2018, he was adopted and now has a forever home where he is flourishing in a loving environment. The adoption family had applied at Colorado Shiba Inu Rescue (COSIR), another rescue organization after their beloved Shiba Inu had passed away. Although the dog they applied for was no longer available, they took a look at James and it turned out that he was the perfect fit for their family. We could not be happier. Now in his for always home, James loves to be rocked to sleep and is adjusting well to his new life.

Thank you to Humanitourism for rescuing this sweet boy and allowing COSIR to be a part of his journey!”
